His & Hers ...

The Ben-Tie & Never grow up collar

I had two gifts to make for two birthdays a day apart. I picked up a ball of wool and this is what happened ... The Ben-tie was based on an ace crochet pattern by Louie's Loops  I simply followed the increases and decreases as for the crochet, but in a knitted garter stitch, and it worked! I even spent a morning learning the art of tying a bow-tie, much to my peril however, I was unable to tie it on a real man (Ben), success only occurred minus a neck ... I shall practice .... The Never-grow-up collar was made after discovering another excellent free pattern by Reckless Glue. Admittedly peter pan collars have been around for a bit now, but I still think they add a certain something ...

For Papa Stubbs

Blue Skies, Cold Nights

I have been working on a new cable-based scarf over the past week or so, but had to keep progress quiet as it was commissioned  for a birthday present! Blue Skies, Cold Nights is less chunky and more light-weight than it's predecessor. Designed to be worn on wet April days and cold spring evenings. I have met the recipient in passing a few times and picked bright blue to go nicely with  his silver mane! Anyway, Happy Birthday Mr Stubbs! I hope you like it.

Update: A pattern is now available for the Blue Skies, Cold Nights scarf! It's published on Ravelry, but you can download the pdf directly by clicking on the link below ...

Scarf for Steve

Cables and fishermen go hand in hand in my mind. It's no surprise then, that with Tennis playing in the background I was churning out twisted wool faster than you could say Featherfin knifefish. The scarf was destined for Steve, who isn't (sadly) a fishermen, but a Midlands based plumber, close enough I'd say. The scarf was inspired by Aromy's Cabled Scarflette, just a bit longer, with an added cable and single toggle-based closure.

Update: A pattern is now available for the Sea-farer scarf! It's published on Ravelry, but you can download the pdf directly by clicking on the link below ...
